Rising Trend of Electric Vehicles(EV) in India

Understanding the Rising Demand of Electric Vehicles

The market of the Indian EVs (electric vehicles) has been growing very fast in the recent past. Its sales have crossed over 3 million in 2025. This became possible through the government’s initiative to increase the charging stations. The reason for the shift to electric vehicles is the decreasing air quality. With pollution being the main factor leading to the shift, many companies have come up with futuristic designs. These designs have gained immense attention because they are loaded with advanced features. Further, the market of electric vehicles will expand by more than 30 percent by 2030.

The Need of Electric Vehicles :

Now, the acceptance percentage of electric vehicles has extended beyond metro cities. In fact, the tier-2 and tier-3 cities have recorded increasing sales of EVs as compared to the petrol ones. Indeed, the reasons behind the switch are mentioned hereunder.

  1. Decreasing Air Quality :

We know that India has recorded a tremendous increase in pollution. It is the emission of carbon dioxide that worsens the air quality. Generally, 35 percent of the population is exposed to hazardous gas emissions. So, the switch to EVs was considered optimum because it eliminates tailpipe emissions in the vehicles. As carbon dioxide does not accumulate in the environment, the air quality remains under control. In fact, zero emissions are responsible for managing the climatic conditions.

  1. Economic Benefits :

Electricity is certainly cheaper than the consumption of diesel or petrol. These days, the price of petrol and diesel is touching the sky, and this has enabled the government to opt for electric vehicles. Besides this, the operating costs of EVs might range between 70 and 80 percent less than those of conventional vehicles. Along with this, the maintenance cost of the EVs is lower because they do not require the necessity of fuel change or cleaning the exhaust system of the vehicle.

  1. Technological Growth :

Now that the manufacturing of EVs is increasing, the government and private companies are expanding charging stations. This has led to an increase in the infrastructural brilliance in the country. On the other hand, the EVs have excellent battery range that offers immense performance. It is because of this that the constant use of EVs in the daily lifestyle is appreciated. Also, many car manufacturing companies are coming up with hybrid systems in their vehicles. This stands as a perfect example of technological expansion.

The best thing of switching to electric vehicles is the convenience. It is because you wake up to a full tank if left charging throughout the night. Moreover, the increase in charging points will help the EV owners to recharge at their will. This will save them the money spent excessively on maintaining petrol or diesel vehicles. In fact, there are certain EV transition trends that are gaining prominence in recent times.

  • Electric vehicles in the section of two-wheelers and three-wheelers have been dominating the market, which has added to 85 to 90 percent of overall sales.
  • Along with expansion in the affordable section, EVs are witnessing a growth in the manufacturing of premium vehicles, ranging from 20 to 25 lakhs. This will enable the upper models to have more technological brilliance.
  • There has been a constant focus on increasing domestic manufacturing, rather than dependence on international sections. In fact, India is paying attention to the domestic manufacturing of highly powerful batteries that increase the efficiency of EVs
  • Apart from expansion in the EV sector, the key players in the vehicle manufacturing are planning to enhance the efficiency of the hybrid system. With constant growth in technology, they are opting for manufacturing power-packed hybrid vehicles that support EV and petrol systems.

The increasing problem of air pollution has led to the development of hazardous diseases among the people. This has alarmed the government and major vehicle manufacturing companies. So, the switch to electric vehicles has been a welcoming decision. For more insights about the auto segment visit our site.

Conculsion

Electric vehicles are transforming the mode of transportation by providing a cheaper, faster, and more eco-friendly method of transport on the road over petrol and diesel engine cars. As battery technology advances, as more infrastructure supporting charging is built and government support is demonstrated, EVs are becoming viable to use in everyday life. Despite such problems as charging time and high price of purchase, electric cars are a significant stage in the way to sustainable and eco-friendly future of transportation.
